Providing accommodation for staff is a major commitment. A clear checklist before you rent helps protect your workers and your business.
Permitted use
Confirm that the property may be used for staff accommodation and that the landlord can provide the contract documents you need.
Capacity and room size
Check how many people each room can reasonably house and that the number complies with the rules that apply. Ask for room sizes in writing.
Safety and condition
- Fire safety equipment and exits
- Ventilation and cooling
- Clean bathrooms and kitchens
- Security and access control
Utilities and services
Clarify whether electricity, water and cooling are included in the rent or billed separately. Some of our camp room listings state when utilities are included.
Location and transport
Consider how workers will reach job sites and whether shops and services are close by.
